Autonomy in vacation centers, cities and private areas
Bringing a real solution to the last-mile delivery challenge
Hive Robotics aims to solve the operational challenges of internal logistics and last-mile delivery by replacing repetitive, time-consuming manual tasks with autonomous delivery robots that transport goods and meals across sites, helping teams work more efficiently, reduce physical strain, and improve overall service quality and guest satisfaction.
Challenge: deploying autonomous robots in sky-occluded environments
Deploying autonomous delivery robots in real-world environments involves several challenges, including navigating complex and dynamic spaces, interacting safely with pedestrians, adapting to varied site layouts, and integrating smoothly into existing operations without disrupting workflows. Robots must operate reliably across changing weather, lighting, and traffic conditions while maintaining high uptime and safety standards. These challenges become even more pronounced in GNSS-denied areas such as campuses, hospitals, industrial sites, or resorts, where GPS signals are unreliable or unavailable, and in environments with abundant vegetation that can obstruct sensors, alter visual landmarks, and complicate localization and path planning.

Solution: map-based navigation for being agnostic to sky occlusions
To overcome these challenges, Hive Robotics leverages LiDAR technology combined with Exwayz’s advanced localization software, starting with a 3D mapping phase that captures the environment in detail. Once the map is created, the robots localize themselves within it, enabling precise navigation even in GNSS-denied environments. By relying on high-resolution 3D perception rather than satellite signals, they can move smoothly to accomplish their mission without requiring any updates to existing infrastructure. This approach is particularly effective in complex settings such as forestry environments with dense vegetation and urban canyons where GPS signals are blocked, ensuring reliable and scalable deployment across diverse real-world sites.
Exwayz technology enable our robots to operate both in dense forestery environments and urban canyons with high towers and crowded areas. We are very satisfied with the robustness of their LiDAR based localization thanks to which our robots can operate safely and reliably.
Perspectives: massive deployments to come in 2026
In 2026, Hive Robotics will deploy more than 30 robots across four countries, operating in a wide range of urban and private environments while seamlessly integrating Exwayz LiDAR-based localization to ensure reliable, infrastructure-free navigation.
